Established in 2006, Jolly Kingdom is a reputable Hong Kong-based education center specializing in Phonics, Cambridge, and Trinity English for children. Program Director - Dr. Jeff Cheng
Dr. Jeff Cheng's main research interests are in the areas of Group Education, Next Generation e-learning Tools and Early Childhood Bilingual Development. All programs taught at Jolly Kingdom are designed and approved by Dr. Jeff Cheng.
Principal - Maggie Lam, M.A. (Linguistics) Ms. Lam received her bachelor's degree from The University of British Columbia and holds an M.A. in Linguistics. She served as an English editor for two years and also had rich experience in teaching Jolly Phonics. Her greatest passion is teaching children to discover the English alphabetic code and the love of reading through systematic phonics training. One of her current research projects is on how phonics can better integrate into an effective classroom reading and writing program.
For more than 20 years, Dr. Jeff Cheng and Maggie Lam have devoted their lives to a single mission: helping Hong Kong children master English from the very foundation. They built Jolly Kingdom from scratch — from one idea into a trusted institution with 40+ centres across Hong Kong and Macau. Along the way they have taught and nurtured over 200,000 students, giving each child a confident start in reading, writing and speaking English. More than two decades of unwavering dedication to early-childhood education is, in itself, the strongest testament to everything Jolly Kingdom stands for.
Dr. Jeff Cheng designs and approves every programme taught at Jolly Kingdom. An engineer-turned-educator, he has spent over 20 years applying rigorous, research-driven thinking to early-childhood bilingual development — pioneering the school's Hybrid Blending phonics method.
Maggie Lam leads Jolly Kingdom's teaching and academic standards. A linguist and lifelong phonics specialist, she is devoted to helping children unlock the English alphabetic code and a love of reading through systematic phonics training.
